100 Garfield Ave, Kansas City, MO 64124
In Kansas City, home to blues and barbecue, you get a lot for your money. This especially true for mansion dream homes. It’s no surprise that something as unique as a century old castle comes up for sale at an affordable price. This is Tiffany Castle and it’s an amazing piece of Kansas City’s history that’s for sale for only the eighth time in over a century. Originally built by Dr. Flavel B. Tiffany, Kansas City’s leading eye doctor at the time, this century old local staple is beautiful inside and out.
Dr. Tiffany founded one of KC’s most pioneer medical schools at the time and was a pretty big deal back then. The town is known for it’s thriving bio-med industry and some of these medical institutions still live on today. Tiffany apparently owned 70 acres of land north of what was then a much smaller town. He wanted to create a novel health resort and natural spring bath. This is a popular shopping area and luxury homes development now called Tiffany Springs – and it’s just down the road from this mansion castle for sale.
Dr. Tiffany’s story isn’t all flowers and babies, though, apparently the guy was an occultist that was obsessed with medicine and eastern Europe. Haunted? I doubt it but a creepy turn of the century eye doctor that builds a castle reminiscent of his world travels and loved to give speeches about anatomy? Let’s just say I’ll be steering clear of the basement on a dark night in this one!
