You and I (if you are even old enough) didn’t get to see ”The Godfather” until its worldwide release in the 1972. But for folks in Staten Island, New York, the story of ”The Godfather” began a year earlier, in the spring of 1971, when Francis Ford Coppola, his cast and his crew, took up residence on Emerson Hill for the beginning of a crazy two-month-long shooting event.
The five-bedroom, seven bathroom, 6,248-square-foot mansion — for sale through the New Dorp-based Connie Profaci Realty — sits on a 2,400-square-foot open expanse on Emerson Hill. Originally purchased in 2012 for $1,687,500, the current owner may have quite a payday if sources are accurate in saying there are a couple of offers for the place. Depending on the condition and it’s iconic heritage, the price tag at nearly $3 million is maybe a little high, but this is a real mansion and there’s equity in those old walls. This was the home of the Corleone family and appeared in numerous scenes including the opening credits.
Joseph R. Profaci, the realtor for the home says: “My favorite feature of the house is a door on the first-floor by the dining room that looks like an old wooden, ‘speak easy’ door that leads down to the basement where there is a pub and a game room, which really is the ultimate man cave. It has a big beautiful stone fireplace in it,” he added.
From the listing: “enchanting english tudor, sprawling grounds (24000 sq ft) bordered by majestic trees & stone wall, famed by “godfather” film. chic interior, 2012 gut-reno’d w/ entertainer’s dream gourmet eik, stately dining & great rms w/ custom moldings, built-ins & coffered ceilings, 5 bedrms, 7 nat stone baths, two offices, gym, playroom. pub & game rm, 2 fireplaces, 4 car garage, gunite saltwater pool, infrared grill, security sys, sound sys, intercom, radiant heat, nat gas generator. 6000 sq ft, 15 rms!!”
