Set in the lovely landscape of the Tuscan Hills, we propose the sale of this historic mansion dates back to the second half of the 16th century. The mansion is located just 6km away from Pisa and Lucca and at short distance from Viareggio, Livorno, and the Apuan Alps. The Villa has an area of 2,200 sq.metres and is surrounded by a 10-hectare park with ancient trees such as large oaks and magnolias more than 400 years old. The Villa has been the prestigious residence of the noble family of Agliata, and subsequently the property was acquired by the Prince Corsini and later on by the Pozzo di Borgo family, Napoleon’s cousins.
In the 18th century major works reshaped the buildings into their present form: the main building was enriched by a five-arch portico in Tuscan order and two wings were added to form a large courtyard leading to the park through an impressive gate. The internal structure and decorations are graced with trompe l’oeil wall textures. The frescoes in the Villa and the external loggias were painted by famous artists such as Ademollo. The “Hall of Feast” is completely frescoed by the great Ademollo and has gilded coffered ceilings and is connected through large windows to the “Music Hall”. There are also the wonderful “Hall of Neptune” and the “Hall of Fresco” of the 16th century. About 600 metres from the Villa, in a panoramic position, is located an amazing neo-gothic building, decorated with trompe l’oeil, resembles a medieval fortress. It was built in the 13th century as a watch tower and has been used throughout the centuries as a hostel for the pilgrims travelling along the Via Francigena and the Via Romea. The park is crossed by a brook of spring water, the “Mulin brook”, which forms a natural waterfall, the “Waterfall of the Unicorn”, in a magical corner of the “Forest of the Elves”. The Mansion has a palate chapel dedicated to San Carlo, where you can admire the modern painting “Christ of Molina” an allegorical “hermetic” piece of art.
