The building comprises 2 adjoining castles (Castle and Castel) and was on a Roman fort – as it was realized based on various findings – built between the 12th and 17th century. The historic Roman road (from Rome to Gaul) led past the Castle, this served to guard along the Roman road as well as to pass on to flares. The current octagonal tower (only in the old area) was built in the 12th century, is 40 meters high and consists mainly of granite. An old wooden bridge is the only access to the tower.
