J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler has listed his 6,226-square-foot Tribeca Franklin Street luxury condo for $25 million. Mr. Drexler put luxury apartment designed by Thierry Despont up for sale a while back amidst a massive selloff he seems to be having right now. The five-bedroom pad at 140 Franklin was originally put on the market last year for $35 million but perhaps New York celebrity real estate is not as hot as he thought? A $10 million discount is a pretty good deal, but the price seems still a tad high.
This is the same building that Leonardo DiCaprio lived in or owned a condo in, however that unit is no longer on the market that we can find.
From the listing with Core NYC: “Located in the heart of Tribeca on one of its most renowned streets, 140 Franklin Street is widely regarded as the finest loft building in Manhattan and apartment 5B embodies the highest level of refined loft living possible. Featuring 11-foot high ceilings, dramatic arched windows, original columns, wide plank Brazilian floors, industrial doors and an astounding 82-foot wide living room, this 6,226-square-foot apartment has unrivaled scale and volume allowing for the most generous of residential floor plans and separation of living spaces. The sprawling floor plan splits the master suite from the guest bedrooms for greater privacy and there is still ample space for staff rooms, a fitness room and a study/library or more bedrooms if needed.
Enhancing this enviable open plan, quintessential loft features and esteemed address is the finessed talents of the incomparable French architect, Thierry Despont, whose contributions to the apartment’s architecture and interior design have elevated it beyond its peers.”
