Sensational western sunset water views from magnificent new 12,000-square-foot mansion with separate guest cottage on elevated two-acre site with 203-foot direct frontage on Georgica Pond and adjacent to 17 acres meadow preserve.
The first house on this East Hampton site was built over 100 years ago by “American Renaissance” architect, Stanford White.
The current owner carefully rotated the original house 90 degrees so the historic triple-height studio room (which faced north) is now a 30-foot high living room looking west over the pond. Every detail in the house was custom designed, and all woodwork was hand-milled on site.
The bathroom marble was site selected in Verona, Italy. The patina-matched tubs, counters and tiles were carved from single blocks of stone by master Italian craftsmen.
A 30-foot-high great room that is surrounded by a second-floor gallery is surrounded by a wall of windows which overlooks the rolling lawn to the pond.
On opposite walls are matched, museum-quality 18th-century French Louis XV carved stone fireplaces.
The kitchen and family room also features an 18th-century carved stone fireplace and a wall of French doors opening to the waterview 25-by-45-foot infinity-edged pool and spa, with an outdoor grilling area. The floors are antique black walnut, hand-doweled and pillowed.
A gorgeous master suite features a bedroom with antique French stone fireplace, wainscoted ceiling and private view overlooking the water. The master dressing room/bath features double sinks, a hand-carved limestone tub, an over-sized steam shower, a sauna, and his-and-hers walk-in closets.
Throughout the house, all the stone floors have radiant heat. The state-of-the-art, 15-zone gas-fired heating and geothermal air conditioning are designed for ultra-efficiency and low energy cost.
A detached 1,800-square-foot guest house includes a living room, full kitchen, two bedrooms and bath.
Directly adjacent to the north of the property is a 17.5-acre meadow preserve owned by The Nature Conservancy.
