Goa is a state located in the South western region of India; it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, and by Karnataka to the east and south, while the Arabian Sea forms its western coast. It is India’s smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population.
Anjuna is a village in Goa, one of the twelve Brahmin communities of Bardez. Its church, St. Michael’s Church, Anjuna, founded in 1595, is dedicated to S. Miguel, and celebrates the feasts of S. Miguel and Nossa Senhora Advogada.
Description: “This luxurious two-level, fully furnished mansion in Anjuna lies away from bustling tourist shacks and beach spots. Five minutes from the northern Vagator beach, it is close to Goa’s glittering sand and seas, and yet tucked away in solitude amongst a green outback. Plotted across 13,700 square feet of individual land, this sprawling villa combines a touch of the Mediterranean, with characteristic Goan Portuguese interiors.
A flower garden leads to the entrance of the villa, where one comes across a bright, rectangular courtyard and a plush swimming pool. Slanting tile roofs supported by rounded tapering columns greet one upon entering, while wide archways interspersed with latticed tiles lead to individual rooms and bedrooms. Dual pathways of criss-crossed lawn surrounded by manicured shrubbery and flora run across the length of the pool space. The far left of the courtyard leads to a lovely arbour, which lends itself to an outdoor dining experience, perfect for hosting intimate brunches or dinners.
The lower level of the villa comprises of a spacious living room and four bedrooms. These can be accessed through one of the pastel green heritage doors around the courtyard. High ceilings, wide, full-length shuttered doors and cream walls suffuse the living room with light and air, offset by yellow and white hand-cut zigzag Chevron flooring. Two antique stone elephants rest beneath a massive arch, quaintly separating the room to accommodate a dining recess. One of the highlights of the dining area is an antique cabinet embedded with glass paintings, positioned next to a white-wood dining table with matching cane chairs.”
